Marie-Luise Wilckens not only experienced two dramatic world wars and the associated changes of a political and social nature, she also repeatedly experienced new beginnings in the artistic field. Her work developed from classical figurative sculptures of people and animals to abstraction, in which she plays freely with form, material and space.
This is the model of the statue on the school forecourt in Fürstenrieder Straße, depicting Archimedes, one of the most important mathematicians and physicists of Greek antiquity.
