"What was important for me in making this painting was bringing out the composition, lines, and colour. The central element of the composition is the rhythmic interplay between the female nude figures and movement of their intertwined hands. Portraiture also plays an important role, as the figures were modeled after real people that are dear to me. The turquoise blue and ultramarine sky helps bring a sense of irrealism to the natural environment depicted in the painting."
