The US-American of Canadian origin questions rigid role models and the associated marginalisation of female manual labour. In the form of oversized fans, which she adorned with a stylistically pluralistic patchwork design in bold, contrasting colours, Schapiro created compositions that transcend temporal and cultural boundaries.
