4 volumes. Bernhard Christoph Breitkopf, Leipzig 1774-1780. Fol. With several vignettes and borders in the text. Volume I with copper engraving portrait of Adelung as well as the bookplate of Amandus Hoecker on the inside cover. Marbled half calf bindings of the period with gild ornamentation on back. Covers slightly rubbed, slightly time-stained on inside. Complete. Provenance: Professor Amandus Hoecker (1764-1836), Benedictine monk and librarian at the Oberalteich monastery. His estate, a significant collection of 6,000 volumes on theological, literary and historical topics, was sold at auction on the 5th of March, 1838. The remainder of the collection was left to the Metten Abbey. - Bavarian private collection.
