South German, 2nd half of the 18th Century, Johann Felix Härtl
Elaborately carved, gilt and partly green-painted wooden case with rich tendril, rocaille and volute decoration, foliate-like tendril attachment. Engraved, gilt brass dial with mock pendulum aperture. Silver Roman chapter ring with Arabic minute track, subsidiary dial above 12 for regulation, signed "JOHAN FELIX HÄRTL". Engraved back plate. 8-day movement, lever escapement with pendulum, 1/4-hourly striking mechanism on two bells. Repeater. Restored, damaged. 63 x 49 x 15 cm.
