A GOLD "MONTRE À TOCK" POCKET WATCH
Paris, circa 1770-1780, JEAN ROMILLY
18K yellow gold, tested. Makers marks. Movement signed Romilly, Paris. The case is lightly rubbed, there are some light scratches to the edge of the dial and two minor losses, the key is missing.
Diameter circa 4.5 cm. Circa 85 g.
White enamel dial with painted black Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers, gilt Louis XVI hands. Movement with repeater. Fine pierced and engraved balance bridge. Case back and front bezel engraved with acanthus leaf decoration as well as a tropaion, consisting of a basket of fruit, a scythe and flowers.
