A GILT OIGNON POCKET WATCH
Paris, 1690-1700, JEAN HOMMET
Gold plated brass. Movement signed Hommet, a Paris. Jewels have been later added to the movement, the dial is scratched, the case is rubbed, the dial has been restored by 5 and there are some losses to the enamel around the winding aperture, the key is missing.
Diameter circa 5.8 cm. Circa 147.4 g.
Engraved and engine turned case with foliate decoration. White enamel dial with black Roman hour numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minute markers. Original iron hands. Finely engraved and partially pierced balance bridge with aperture revealing a mock pendulum.
