An Enamel Decorated Pocket Watch in the Form of a Mandolin
Vienna, circa 1880
14K Yellow gold (580/-), stamped. Viennese assay marks from 1872 onwards for Gold (580). Circa 24 diamond chips. Green translucent enamel on guillochéd ground, white, black and blue opaque enamel and painted enamel. Dial damaged. Slight damage and restoration to enamel. Key missing.
Circa 63 x 31 mm. Circa 28.9 g.
The watch housed within the body of the mandolin. The top of the body of the mandolin is decorated with a painted enamel pastoral scene in rose camaieu. Round, white enamel dial, black Roman numerals, outer minute track, blued steel Breguet-hands. Full plate fusee verge movement, pierced and engraved balance bridge, 3-arm balance wheel.
