Numbered No. 50 on remnants of an adhesive label and estate stamp Hans Best verso. Oil auf panel. 50.5 x 40.5 cm. Sliding battens. Restored. Damaged. Damage to batten frame (52 x 42.5 cm).
The present painting was previously attributed to Jacopo Bassano. Cf. Suida, Wilhelm, Studien zu Bassano, in: Belvedere, 12th edition, issue 9/12, 1934/36, illustration 226 and page 197 (the original issue for this painting is available). The painting is now listed in the literature as a late 16th century work. Cf. Arslan, Edoardo, I Bassano. Milan 1960, page 356.
