Mainz, circa 1760

 

Veneer of walnut and veined walnut. 2 doors. Restored, minor signs of wear. 227 x 173 x 75 cm. Plus: Interior with shelves and two cutlery drawers. Walnut veneer, walnut burl. On ball feet. Two-door body with chamfered front edges and slightly curved front. Curved wreath with central carved rocaille. Corners and cleats applied with pilaster strips with handle volutes. Decoration with field bordered by ribbon work with diamond parquetry or mirrored burl wood. Rest., min. signs of wear. 227 x 173 x 75 cm. With its elegantly curved body, the characteristically handly-shaped pilaster strips and the inlaid diamond pattern, this cupboard is a particularly high-quality represantative of Mainz carpentry of the middle 18th century.
