Collier de Chien

France and Munich, circa 1910 and 1980s, GEBRÜDER HEMMERLE

Platinum and 18k white gold (750/-), stamped. Signed Hemmerle. Circa 708 diamonds in various old cuts and some brilliant-cut, altogether circa 8.50 carats. Circa 1652 small, white, cream and pale grey cultured pearls.

Length circa 36.2 cm. Circa 102.7 g.

The rectangular, finely open-worked centrepiece is finished in the so-called garland style, which was very fashionable in the period between 1900 and 1910. This style borrows from the ornamental style of around 1780 onwards. The necklace was masterfully put together at the Hemmerle brothers atelier.
