The Cannetille technique was developed in Central Europe around 1820, taking its name from an embroidery technique of the 1800s. A filigree framework of tendrils and arches made of fine gold wire is created, in which fine leaves, flowers and particularly beehive-like decorations are incorperated. This framework along with fine set gemstones are then further decorated with granulation. The present necklace perfectly reflects this extraordinary craftsmanship.
