A Diamond, Ruby, Pearl and Enamel Cameo Pendant
Probably France, circa 1580
18K yellow gold (750/-), tested. 4 small diamonds. 4 small rubies. The cameo carved to depict a caesarean head in profile. 4 small white pearls. Black opaque enamel and remnants of white, green and blue enamel. Pearl drop to bottom of pendant missing. Enamel damaged.
Circa 5.3 x 3.5 cm. Circa 13.4 g.

The present piece is comparable with a Commesso cameo from the permanent collection at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.
