description:

PENDANT IN THE FORM OF A BASKET OF FLOWERS SET WITH DIAMONDS, RUBIES, SAPPHIRES, EMERALDS AND FRESHWATER PEARLS

Germany, late 18th century.

Silver, gold plated, tested. 20 small rose-cut diamonds. Circa 22 small rubies, 12 sapphires and 5 emeralds in various cuts. 21 small round baroque freshwater pearls, largest pearls: circa 6.2 x 4.2 mm. Some of the stones have some minor damage.

Circa 8.5 x 4.9 cm. Circa 23.64 g.

The pendant falls under the label "Giardinetto". Giardinetto is an Italian word meaning "small garden". These pieces of jewelery are characterised by small flowers and bouquets, set with colorful gemstones and diamonds, which are either free standing bunches or arranged in baskets or vases. Giardinetto pendants are an extraordinary rarity, while rings appear on the market more frequently.
